Personal and professional correspondence of the N.H. lawyer. Legal papers, including his will, which names Sara G. Blodgett and Anna G. Blodgett ah his heirs and executrices, and the probate court documents concerning the settlement of his estate. Documents appointing him Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of New Hampshire and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Hampshire. Letters from colleagues notifying him of his nomination and appointment and letters from friends congratulating him on his new position. Some material regarding the history of his family. Copy of the eulogy read at his funeral. A letter from him to his daughter Anna.

Sarah G. Blodgett, a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, was from Franklin, N.H. She was a trustee of the New Hampshire Orphans' Home, a trustee of the Franklin Hospital, and a director of the New Hampshire Children's Aid and Protective Society. She was also chairman of the executive committee of the New Hampshire Conference of Charities and Corrections and president of the New Hampshire Federation of Women's Clubs. Blodgett received a honorary AM from Dartmouth College in 1870 and a honorary LL D in 1900. He was born in Canaan, N.H. in 1838. He served as a judge on the New Hampshire Supreme Court from 1880 to 1898. In 1898 he became Chief Justice. He married Sarah Gerould in 1861; they had a daughter, Anna.
